Its purpose is to reprogram our brain to overcome our blocks and anxieties through new behavioral models and communication both (with ourselves) and with others.

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) was  created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California, United States, in the decade 1970. NLP sustains that there is a connection between neurological processes («neuro»), language ("Linguistics"), and behavioral patterns learned through experience ("programming"), and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life. Bandler and Grinder assert that the NLP methodology can «model» (reprogram) anyone's skills.

"There is a connection between neurological processes, language, and behavioral patterns learned through experience"

Its acronym, NLP, can be explained as follows:

  • (N) NEURO. It refers to the way we relate to the world, since every experience is the result of neurologically processing the representations we make of reality as well as the eternal perceptions we collect through our senses.
  • (L) LINGUISTICS. It refers to how we use verbal and non-verbal language to give a meaning to our experiences. , We use language to organize our thoughts and behaviors, as well as to communicate with ourselves and with those around us.
  • (P) PROGRAMMING. It is the ability to codify our experiences through our senses. We create mental programs that help us to organize, our experience in order to achieve our goals .
